The crops are going away.
As the brave farmers of Chambellan are desperately attempting to keep their crops alive manually, time is running out on helping this land-locked town of about 17,000 habitants. The area has no water source and with SHY’s participation, they will be having more than just a single-solution for their crops!
It all started with a dream...
In 2016, a high-school principal created an agricultural vocational school in Chambellan. And on the heels of the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew in late 2016, the first graduating class from the CENTRE DE FORMATION DE TECHNIQUES AGRIGOLES ("CFTA") leased a 50-by-50 square-feet patch of land in Spring 2017, and began growing crops for the people of the town to be self-sustaining. These crops have been irrigated by hand ever since, as the town has no water source.
